Two Generations of Women Printmakers: Atelier 17 & The Art Students League
This catalog accompanies a 2021 exhibition at The Art Students League New York, also entitled Two Generations of Women Printmakers: Atelier 17 & The Art Students League.
The essay explores connections between two generations of pioneering women artists: the first studied printmaking at the Art Students League under Joseph Pennell and, with some instances of overlap, the second worked at Atelier 17, the avant-garde printmaking workshop founded in 1927 in Paris and located in New York City between 1940 and 1955.
